EXHIBITION OPENING “Achtung : Asphaltkultur – German Graffiti Avantgarde”
Venue: Max Mueller Bhavan/Goethe Institut.
The exhibition presents work of internationally known graffiti related artists like Harald Naegeli, Nils Mueller, Vektor Gruppe West, Mozes & Taps, ECB Hendrik Beikirch and Dtagno. Beikirch and Dtagno who are also part of the Malleswaram project will be personally present at the opening. The Exhibition continues till February 26th, 2.00 to 7.30 p.m.. Closed on February 20, 21 & 22, 2012.

DREAMCITY CITYDREAMS – Only for Govt. Girls School, Malleswaram Students
Venue: Govt. Girls School, Malleswaram
Part of a collaboration with the German based Dreamcity CityDreams project that enables German and Indian artists to lead workshops with school children. This session with the Govet. Girls High School, Malleswaram, enables artists Gabor Doleviczenyi and Shilo Shi Suleman to work with students of the school aid in unleashing the children’s vision of an ideal Mallewaram in an ideal Bangalore. The works of the students will be displayed on the streets of Malleswaram on the 25th of February as part of the grand Finale Day activities.

Curator Lene ter Haar will conduct a Guided Tourthrough the Exhibition Achtung: Asphaltkultur – German Graffiti Avantgarde on February 17, 2012, 6.30 p.m. at the Bhavan. The Exhibition, part of the month-long Urban Avantgarde project,  places on display works by DTagno, Nils Müller, ECB Hendrik Beikirch, Harald Naegeli, Vektor Gruppe West, Peter Strohmann, Mozes&TapsTM and EXPOSE, making innovative use of the sapce and giving an insightful glimpse into graffiti art in Germany.
The Exhibition continues till February 26th, 2.00 to 7.30 p.m.. Closed on February 20, 21 & 22, 2012.

URBAN AVANT-GARDE TAKE ON THE STREETS
Venue: The Courtyard Cafe, Jaaga
Urban Avant-Garde Artists George, Dhanya, Shilo, Jas & Jaaga Juice represent India. DTagno, ECB Hendrik Beikirch, Gabor Dole, Peter Strohmann and Van Laak represent Germany. Each artist shows how his or her art plays with the streets of their cities. They all present in the well-known Pecha Kucha format – 20 slides each for 20 seconds.
Spend the evening up close and personal, with some of the top urban artists India and Germany have to offer at The Cafe Courtyard at Jaaga  which will throw open its doors to the public for the first time. Look out for delectable treats made from their farm-fresh veggies. The evening might find a warm Jam session with Rasmus from Germany and Sean Blagsvedt from Bangalore. Decoy of Mumbai, Ria and Arcnoid of Bangalore on projections.

Samir Akika / Unusual Symptoms, along with Nora Ronge (dance coach & co-coreographer) and Rasmus Nordholt (music), perform for Urban Avantgarde together with dancers from the Attakkalari Repertory, offering unusual perspectives on urban experiences.

The performance will be followed by a panel discussion on Avantgarde Dance in the city moderated by Lene ter Haar. Panelists include Jaychandran Palazhy of Attakkalari, Mayuri Upadhyay of Nritutya Dance Company and Samir Akika of Unusual Symptom of Germany.

Sensual live energetic urban dance experience on the streets of Malleswaram, directed by Samir Akika / Unusual Symptoms and performed by the Attakalari dance company in front of the freshly painted Urban Avant-Garde collective mural. Dance coach & co-choreographer Nora Ronge. With music by Rasmus. Guerilla dance acts not excluded.
Part of Urban Avant-Garde and Malleswaram Mela, bringing together artists from India and Germany in order to unconventionally expanding urban cultures’ modes of expression and cross-pollination on the streets of Malleswaram.
